Birch Point State Park is located on Penobscot Bay, and offers fishing and picnic facilities. Swimming is permitted, however visitors should note that there are no lifeguards on duty.
This vast commercial forest stretches across more than 3.5 million acres of northwestern Maine, adorning the counties of Aroostook, northern Somerset, Penobscot and Piscataquis. In addition to providing timber for paper and construction, the Maine North Woods provide a rich environment for recreation and hunting. From sugar maple to yellow birch, black bears to bald eagles, numerous tree species and varied wildlife can be found in this valuable forest.
